CopperEye Positions for Growth Michael Shea
Hired As Vice President Of Worldwide Sales
Data Indexing Innovator Establishes
U.S.Headquarters In Stamford, Conn., To Best Facilitate Management Of Global
Sales And Partnership Networks
January 27, 2005 - San Francisco, CA - CopperEye, developer
and supplier of innovative data Indexing technologies that significantly enhance
database performance, today announced the appointment of Michael Shea as vice
president of worldwide sales. Recruited to spearhead CopperEye's expansion
plans in the Americas, EMEA and AP, Shea brings with him more than 20 years
of experience delivering technology solutions to large global enterprises.
Shea will be responsible for driving software licenses through both direct
and indirect channels. The search was conducted by Taylor Winfield, Inc.
"CopperEye was able to gain significant traction in 2004 with the introduction
of the CopperEye DataBlade for Informix Dynamic Server and an expansion of the
IBM business partnership" said Kate Mitchell, chief executive officer of CopperEye. "As
we began 2005, it became clear we needed a sales leader with the proven ability
to architect and manage a global sales and partner organization. We are proud
to have attracted a sales leader with Michael's experience and track record of
success, and believe he will enhance our ability to drive revenue, and expand
our market presence."
In addition to this appointment, CopperEye has relocated its U.S.A. headquarters
to Stamford, Conn. By moving its base of U.S. operations to Connecticut, CopperEye
will be best able to manage a global sales and partner organization among its
Bath, UK, headquarters, the Americas, and the rest of the world. The Company
will continue to maintain an office in San Francisco, Calif.
"The ever-increasing demands of business intelligence, data surveillance, regulatory
compliance, and RFID-enabled supply chains generate a staggering amount of data
that companies must retain and access quickly," noted Michael Shea in accepting
his new role. "This geometric growth in data volumes is increasing pressure on
IT infrastructures and balance sheets. CopperEye is the first company to properly
identify conventional database indexing as a barrier to cost-effectively managing
that data growth. By delivering products today that offer exponentially faster
access to large data repositories, CopperEye is focused on helping companies
stay far ahead of the trend, achieving quantifiable business benefits."
Shea comes to CopperEye from Information Builders, the world's second largest
privately held software company, where he served as vice president of international
sales and marketing. At Information Builders, he led the restructuring of its
business to become more scalable and solution-focused. Prior to Information Builders,
Shea led IBM's Websphere Business Integration sales efforts in EMEA and had revenue
responsibility for IBM's MQ-family, middleware adapters and key technology supplier
relationships on a global basis. Before joining IBM, Shea held a series of management
and sales positions at Lucent Technologies, and BellSouth Corporation. Shea will
be based in Stamford, Conn.
